Courtyard

You are standing inside the courtyard between the front gate and the main house. The Yukimura compound is both serene and austere, giving you a sense of warm welcome if you belong or strong uneasiness if you do not. The main building leers over you, its massive size lending creed to the power of your master. It is a fortress of art, and all around it people are busy conducting business or maintaining cleanliness.

The courtyard itself is wide open. It takes a good ten minutes to walk from the main gate up to the house. All around you people are busy. Gardeners are attending the lawn. Merchants are delivering vegetables, fish, rice, and all manner of foods to the Yukimura kitchen. Even as you approach the house, the aroma of cooking food is so overwhelming that your stomach growls in response.

The house is raised off the ground. Wooden walkways line the perimeter of the building, and ornately decorated paper shoji screens slide sideways open to allow people through. You may proceed inside the house or walk around it and go directly to the dojo.
